CVGS Bridge Project

Introduction

This senior engineering project is designed to test the theoretical application of forces on a rigid body. In this case the rigid body is a truss bridge. It is also designed to apply the "real world" forces of cost when challenged with a competitive bid, design, and build project.

The theoretical information provided in Section 5 and Appendix A will help you calculate the forces in each member to determine a failure load for your bridge design.

The project specifications are described in Section 2 and will give you the design requirements that the bridge must meet.

The proposal is due on the third week and the bridge testing will be performed on the sixth week. Follow the proposal outline described in Section 7. Grading is based on the criteria described in Section 8.
