Senior Science Scenario (S-Cubed)

During the final six weeks of Senior Seminar, students participate in the Senior Science Scenario. The Senior Science Scenario is the capstone experience for our students. The students are placed into teams and are assigned the following challenge: Research and choose a topic that relates to the health of our biosphere, then apply mathematical modeling techniques involving differential equations to predict the impact of an existing trend in this topic continuing for the next 50 years. Each team has at least one biology, mathematics, and computer science student expert who has primary responsibility for that aspect of the project. The project begins with a proposal and ends with the submission of a paper and a formal presentation of results before peers, faculty, and community partners.
