Restriction Mapping:  Restriction enzymes are special proteins that cut DNA at specific base sequences.  These enzymes are isolated from bacteria.  Scientists us them to study DNA molecules.

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR):  PCR enables researchers to selectively copy, or amplify, a targeted DNA sequence in a test tube.  In just a few hours, the sequence can be copied a billion times.  It was created in 1985 by Kary Mullis.
