Maintenance for your Hach Meter:
Sign up to reserve
Prepare the Dissolved
Oxygen, Conductivity and pH meters the day before you plan
to take them out
(Follow steps posted in the Analytical Lab)
Calibrate the meters
and make sure the meters are working properly on the day you are using
them before you take them out
Return all HACH Meters
promptly the next day
Clean meters following
the instructions posted in the Analytical Lab.
What are my
choices for which meters to use?
- pH Meters:
pH meters are used to measure the pH of a specific solution, which can
determine whether the solution is basic, acidic, or neutral. pH meters can
also be used to adjust the pH of samples before conducting various HACH
- DO Meters:
DO meters are specifically used to measure the amount of dissolved oxygen in
a water source. This meter is usually used for environmental science
projects or microbiology projects involving bacteria and fecal coliform.
- Conductivity Meters: Conductivity
meters are used to measure the amount of electricity a water source can
conduct. This meter is usually used for environmental science projects
to measure ions in the water. The ions may be from ionic compounds or metals
that are present in the water indicating a possible pollutant.
