Inferential statistics are
use to determine relationships between different data sets. Does one data set increase as
another one decreases? Is there a difference "statistically" between two data
sets? Can a prediction be made based on the relationship between two data sets? In this
section, you'll learn about several common inferential statistical analysis techniques
used by researchers to determine the relationships mentioned above. Click on the
techniques listed in the following table to learn more about them. The adjacent menu will take you to activities where you will apply the different types of inferential tests and illustrate how they are used to analyze data in a variety of disciplines. All activities assume that you have access to Excel, a TI-83 calculator or another software package capable of performing inferential tests.
