AREVA Continues to Support CVGS

LYNCHBURG, Va., February 25, 2015 – As part of its National Engineers Week celebration, AREVA Inc. presented the Central Virginia Governor’s School for Science and Technology (CVGS) with a $10,000 donation. The CVGS Foundation supports access to advanced technology, unique research projects, trips to university research laboratories and state-level symposiums, student recognition programs, and scholarships for graduating students. This is the sixth consecutive year that AREVA has supported CVGS with a donation to its science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs.
“AREVA is all about ‘Forward-looking Energy,’” said AREVA Inc. chief operating officer Craig Ranson. “It’s crucial to the future success of our business to continue our commitment and support of the local community, and maintain a focus on STEM education programs like the Governor’s School.”
More than 100 students and CVGS faculty attended the presentation by Ranson this morning at the school.
“We are delighted that AREVA is able to invest in the Governor's School program again this year,” said Dr. Stephen Smith, director of the Central Virginia Governor’s School. “Their donations to the CVGS Foundation make meaningful differences for our students, and their leadership in our fund raising is even more important as we celebrate our 30th anniversary and make plans to continue to provide engaging STEM opportunities for students across this region for the next 30 years.”
