Senior Science Scenario 2018

Our seniors will be presenting their Senior Science Scenario research projects on Tuesday, May 15, and Wednesday, May 16, beginning at 7:15 am and ending at 10:20 am. The students will be presenting on the stage of the Sydnor Performance Area in Schewel Hall on the Lynchburg College campus.  The student presentations will address, through modeling, how changes in one aspect of the biosphere might affect other aspects in 50 years.

Research Symposium 2018 Schedule

On Wednesday, April 25, we will have our annual CVGS Research Symposium from 7 until 9 pm.  Our juniors will be making ten-minute presentations of their research projects, and we invite all our CVGS families to come and hear what our researchers have been doing.

CVGS Closed April 17

Due to the effects of the recent storm, CVGS will be closed on Tuesday, April 17.

CVGS Closed April 16

Due to inclement weather damage, the Lynchburg City Schools and the Central Virginia Governor's School will be closed Monday, April 16, 2018.
 

2018-19 Calendar Approved

On March 28, 2018, the Central Virginia Governor's School Governing Board approved the academic calendar for the 2018-19 school year. The calendar is available HERE.

Jan 17 Program Overview Rescheduled to Jan 31

Due to inclement weather, the January 17 Program Overview for prospective students from Amherst, Appomattox, and Bedford Counties has been rescheduled to Wednesday, Jan 31. The event will still begin at 7 pm. We look forward to seeing you then!

CVGS CLOSED SAT, DEC 9, 2017

Due to inclement weather conditions, CVGS is closed today, Saturday, December 9.

We encourage all our students who were planning to study together this morning to meet virtually and continue your preparation for upcoming assessments or exams.

Progress Reports & Conference Nights

This message is to remind our families about our schedule for progress reports, optional Saturday sessions, and parent-teacher conferences. As always, these events are noted on our CVGS academic calendar available on the main page of our website. 
 

Opening for a math or CS teacher for 2018-19

The Central Virginia Governor's School for Science and Technology will be accepting applications for an instructor position for the 2018-19 school year. This position will either be for a dual-enrollment math or dual-enrollment computer science teacher. The full position posting can be found HERE.

Back to School Night for Juniors 2017

We will have a Back to School Night for our JUNIORS and their parents on Monday, August 21, 2017.  This optional event provides families with an opportunity to walk through their students' schedules and hear a little more about our CVGS classes from the faculty.  The evening starts promptly at 7 pm in our CVGS Common Area, and it will end about 8 pm.  Again, this event is for JUNIORS only.
