Progress Reports & Conference Nights

This message is to remind our families about our schedule for progress reports, optional Saturday sessions, and parent-teacher conferences. As always, these events are noted on our CVGS academic calendar available on the main page of our website. 
 

Opening for a math or CS teacher for 2018-19

The Central Virginia Governor's School for Science and Technology will be accepting applications for an instructor position for the 2018-19 school year. This position will either be for a dual-enrollment math or dual-enrollment computer science teacher. The full position posting can be found HERE.

Back to School Night for Juniors 2017

We will have a Back to School Night for our JUNIORS and their parents on Monday, August 21, 2017.  This optional event provides families with an opportunity to walk through their students' schedules and hear a little more about our CVGS classes from the faculty.  The evening starts promptly at 7 pm in our CVGS Common Area, and it will end about 8 pm.  Again, this event is for JUNIORS only.

NSO 2017 Day 4 Agenda

Please note that our fourth and final day of New Student Orientation 2017 will occur on Monday, August 7, 2017. We will begin our day promptly at 7:30 am, and we will finish at 11:30 am. We will be spending the morning at CVGS and, since we are leaving before noon, we will not be having lunch. The agenda for NSO 2017 Day 4 can be found HERE.
 
Our first day of the regular school year will be Tuesday, August 8, 2017. Our first period will begin at 7:30 am, and our fourth period will end at 11:05 am.

Senior Science Scenario 2017

Our seniors will be presenting their Senior Science Scenario research projects on Wednesday, May 24th and Thursday, May 25th, beginning at 7:15 am and ending at 10:20 am. The students will be presenting on the stage of the Sydnor Performance Area in Schewel Hall on the Lynchburg College campus.  The student presentations will address, through modeling, how changes in one aspect of the biosphere might affect other aspects in 50 years.

CVGS Research Symposium 2017 Schedule

On Wednesday, April 26, we will have our annual CVGS Research Symposium from 7 until 9 pm.  Our juniors will be making ten-minute presentations of their research projects, and we invite all our CVGS families to come and hear what our researchers have been doing.
