AREVA Donates $10,000 to CVGS Foundation

LYNCHBURG, Va., February 21,  2014 – As part of its National Engineers Week celebration, AREVA presented the Central Virginia Governor’s School of Science and Technology (CVGS) with a $10,000 donation to their Foundation’s Opportunities Endowment. The endowment funds support student research opportunities and educational trips during the year. This is the fifth consecutive year that AREVA has made this donation to CVGS.
“Our industry relies on highly skilled engineers and technicians so an investment in the Governor’s School is an investment in the future of safe, reliable energy,” said Gary Mignogna, senior vice president engineering and projects at AREVA Inc.
AREVA Inc. is a proud supporter of National Engineers Week, which took place this year from Feb. 16 to 22. The company celebrated the significant contributions our employees make to the engineering field and their efforts to help prepare tomorrow’s engineers by making science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education more prevalent and accessible. In addition to presenting this donation to CVGS, AREVA Inc. employees volunteered at local schools to talk to students about engineering and technology careers.
Partnerships with schools and organizations like CVGS are part of the company’s commitment to STEM education and to the Lynchburg area, which is home to more than 1,800 AREVA Inc. employees and their families.
