1/29 Open House Rescheduled for 2/5

Due to inclement weather conditions resulting in the Lynchburg City Schools being closed today, Wednesday, January 29, the CVGS Open House scheduled for this evening is canceled.  The Open House is now sceduled for Wednesday, February 5, 2014.  This event is a program that starts promptly at 7 p.m. and lasts until 8:35 p.m.  If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 477-5980.

Open Houses Held Unless LCS is Closed

The Governor's School Open House events scheduled for Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29 will occur as scheduled unless the Lynchburg City Schools close their schools on one or both of those two days. Please refer to this website for updates on the status of these events.

Please note that attendance at an Open House is not required for a student to apply; these programs are informational only. Students and their families may also refer to our website or talk with a current Gov. School student or high school guidance counselor to learn more about our program.

1/22 Open House Rescheduled for 1/29

Due to inclement weather, the CVGS Open House scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, 2014, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, January 29, 2014.  
The program will begin at 7 p.m., and it will be primarily for prospective students from Amherst, Appomattox, and Bedford Counties.  However, if you are unable to attend on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, you may attend the same event the day before on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, when it is primarily for prospective students from Campbell County and Lynchburg City.  

Parent Conferences and Lecture

This message is to inform parents that our students will receive their progress reports by Friday, October 18, and that Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur on Tuesday, October 22 and also on Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Conferences will be scheduled every ten minutes between the hours of four and seven p.m. on both these evenings. If you would like to schedule a conference, please call us at 477-5980 before 3 p.m. and speak with Mrs. Kim McMillan; Mrs. McMillan will be happy to help you schedule your appointments.

Senior Bridge Testing 9/20/13

Parents of Central Virginia Governor's School seniors are invited to witness the CVGS 2013 Annual Senior Engineering Bridge Project Stress Testing Competition.  The competition is Friday, September 20, beginning about 8:15 a.m. at the Center for Advanced Engineering and Research in Forest, Virginia.  Directions to the Center can be found on the Center’s web site at http://caer.us/facilities/directions/

Back to School Potluck Dinner 8/19/13

The Central Virginia Governor's School will hold its annual Back to School Potluck Dinner for parents and students on Monday, August 19, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m.

CVGS Hosts the Regional Science Fair Challenge May 7!


The faculty of the Governor's School is excited to host the Regional Science Fair Challenge today, May 7, 2013. Participants were nominated from their respective schools to be involved in today's event.  Please note the schedule below.


6th -8th Graders

Check in from 3:10- 3:55 p.m.

Enter through CVGS entrance and proceed to Heritage High School cafeteria. Projects will be place at an assigned table location.
