Education

Employment

My high school teaching career began at Liberty High School in Bedford in 1995, where I taught Physics courses ranging from Introductory Physics to AP Physics C E&M, and math ranging from Algebra 1 through AP Calculus BC, before joining CVGS in the summer of 2018.

On the side, I am a teacher for Virginia Aerospace Science and Technology Scholars (a partnership between NASA Langley Research Center and the Virginia Space Grant Consortium) and serve as an adjunct instructor in Physics at Randolph College, the University of Lynchburg, and Sweet Briar College.

Family

I have been married to the most wonderful woman in the world, Kelly, since 1993, who I met in college at UCSB (I am a California native). We have two daughters, Hannah (CVGS class of 2018, Yale class of 2022) and Grace (CVGS class of 2023, current student at the Fashion Institue of Technology, State University of New York).

Hobbies

As a family, we love to travel, and I have been to all but 3 of the states (Idaho, Oregon, Washington).  Internationally, we’ve been to Europe, South Africa, Morocco, Argentina, China and Nepal to mention a few.  When I’m not traveling, I love playing games of any type, and I love to watch and play soccer, in addition to other sports.

I have been around music all my life with classical influences from my grandmother, who trained classical pianists, and Uncle, who was an internationally acclaimed cellist.  I play guitar, piano, drums, and at one time clarinet, but unfortunately I am more a jack of all trades and master of none when it comes to musical instruments.

Two of my favorite quotes

“I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”
– Muhammed Ali

“We are going to relentlessly chase perfection, knowing full well we will not catch it, because nothing is perfect.  But we are going to relentless chase it, because in the process we will catch excellence.”
– Vince Lombardi
